Mac's Legends Racing Series
and the

In April of 1992, a revolutionary new race car, the Legends
Car, was unveiled at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. H.A.
"Humpy" Wheeler, (President and General Manager of CMS),
and Elliott Forbes-Robinson, (famed road racing champion),
designed these 5/8-scale fiberglass full-fendered versions
of the famed NASCAR modifieds driven by legendary drivers
such as Fireball Roberts, Curtis Turner, Buck Baker, Speedy
Thompson, and Banjo Matthews. The idea was to create a fun,
safe, and affordable "spec" class of racing for everyone.
Since that time, the Legends Cars have become one of the
fastest growing segments of motorsports today. With drivers
being classified into four different divisions, Legends Cars
is THE racing opportunity that is available to anyone!
Competitors are not permitted to make any major changes to
the original car, add a strict set of rules, tough technical
inspection, and you have a series that is fair for everyone
involved. Hence, a wide variety of Legends Cars drivers who come from all walks of
life, are male or female and range in age from 12 – 80.
To date there are more than 3500 cars in existence with car
owners from 42 U.S. States, 3 Canadian Provinces and several
other countries. The popularity of Legends cars is gaining
momentum with every race.

Drivers are classed into one of 4 division dependant on
their ability and experience.
The Semi-Pro Division is the novice class, featuring
the drivers that are new to the sport or have been inactive
in other forms of racing for a while.
The Young Lions Division which is designated for the
drivers between the ages of 12 and 16. However in Western
Canada, due to the regulations of the local tracks we race
at, the earliest a Young Lion can start is at the age of 14.
The Pro Division is for the experienced drivers
The Masters Division features drivers 40 years and
older. Though, based on their skill and desire, it is not
uncommon to find a few “over 40” drivers in the Pro
Division.
Since the car stays the same from division to division, it
is the driver that makes the difference!
In Legends Cars of Alberta the divisions often race
together, however, drivers are only competing against their
peers as the points are tallied for each driver within their
own division.
When the divisions are run separately it offers the
drivers the opportunity to race with competition that is at
the same level, in order to give everyone an equal chance of
success.

The fiberglass-body cars are almost exact replicas of the
1934 and 1940 Fords and Chevys that founded the grassroots
of racing as we know it. Manufactured in Harrisburg, NC,
Legends Cars are sold only through 600 Racing, Inc
and its authorized dealers such as Legends Cars of Alberta.
A full tubular roll cage sits on frame rails which are
firmly braced. The cars utilize a recycled Toyota rear-end,
front disc and rear drum brakes, rack and pinion steering,
coil-over shock suspension on all four corners, a
four-gallon fuel cell, a battery, five-point safety belts
and a factory manufactured racing seat.
The only differences in the cars can been seen by the body
style which come from the factory in stock colors of White
or Black gel coat. Owners/Drivers can choose their
preferred body style ('34 Chevy Coupe, '34 Ford Coupe, '34
Ford Sedan, '37 Chevy Sedan or the '37 Dodge Sedan) and
apply their own paint schemes.

will quickly dismiss any notion that the car means
anything but business.
